Buildings also play a central role in reaching the Danish climate targets. Buildings account for about 40% of Denmark's total energy consumption and therefore for a significant proportion of Denmark's carbon emissions. Residential housing accounts for around 40% of the total building stock.

The Danish Council on Climate Change has singled out energy renovation of buildings as the most effective green transition initiative when considering the economic cost to society.

With that in mind, Nykredit Bank launched a green home loan (Grønt BoligLån) and a green home check-up concept (Grønt BoligTjek) to make green choices easier and more affordable for homeowners. We have also launched a green car loan (Grønt Billån) to make electric and plugin hybrid cars an easier and more cost-effective choice. A green contribution from our Forenet Kredit owners has made the prices of these products particularly attractive. Read more about how Nykredit Bank makes it easier and more affordable for customers to contribute to a greener Denmark here.

In Totalkredit, we have launched an energy calculator. A tool where homeowners can enter their address and receive customised proposals for home energy renovation.
