Social partnerships optimise knowledge sharing. Nykredit is currently engaged in two social partnerships. We believe that our people can make a difference to those participating in the programmes. And we believe it is rewarding for us as well. Around 50 of our staff volunteer their professional knowledge and experience of financial matters and act as financial mentors to people who need a helping hand.
Counselling of battered women
Under a programme called Råd til Livet, which is a long-standing partnership between the Mary Foundation, Mødrehjælpen, LOKK (a national organisation of women's shelters) and Nykredit, battered women are offered social, financial and legal counselling. Nykredit's staff provide financial advice tailored to the needs of the individual women. The objective is to provide the women with a better financial overview and empower them to manage their personal finances on their own. The counselling is offered in about 20 locations across Denmark, at Mødrehjælpen's premises and at crisis centres.
Counselling of returned veterans
The programme called Økonomisk Overblik is a partnership between Soldaterlegatet (the Soldiers' Grant), KFUM Soldiers Mission and Nykredit. The programme is aimed at returned veterans who have been physically or mentally affected by their service. Using a help-to-self-help approach, financial mentors from Nykredit help returned veterans to get a handle on their personal finances or to effectively manage any compensation amounts awarded. In 2017, counselling is offered at the soldiers' recreational centres in Høvelte, Fredericia, Holstebro and Hvorup.
